Angus Robinson at the Finish Junior BK member Angus Robinson of Williamstown High School took out the Senior Boys Solo ride collecting all points in 75 minutes of the 120 minutes allowance. Conditions were cold, wet and windy with many tracks slippery, muddy and even under water. We were fortunate that Parks Victoria allowed the event to proceed and it didn't seem to deter the 180 or so students at all
Helpers ?, Pat and Dennis Mews, Bruce Paterson Many orienteer volunteers plus staff and parents pitched in to help run the event, organised annually, on the second Friday in August, by OV's Peta Whitford.
Junior riders can enter with their school team or as an individual and it would be great to see more juniors in this fun sport. Angus on the right next to Blake Gordon
The Schools event caters for both Primary and Secondary riders and will be held at Woodlands Park near Melbourne airport next year. Orienteering Victoria runs a series of MTB orienteering events from April to October, and during daylight saving months there is a series of twilight events close to Melbourne which are a good introduction to the sport.
